About Sue Wolff
Hello, I am Sue Wolff,
- Facilitator of passionate, problem, project and place-based learning (my own and everyone else's)
- Educational technology steward
- Organizational ICT consultant
- Free agent action researcher discovering ways we make sense of the world and our place in it
Vision - I imagine organizations and individuals creatively learning from each other through service exchanges. Always working towards a humane and sustainable future, they will build knowledge, practice, and expertise together. I imagine transformational learning opportunities that help participants build social and identity capital.
Background - I have an extensive background in public secondary education focused on curriculum design and teaching of vocational guidance, networked technologies, learning support, and project management. I have participated in the design and development of several Small Schools (smaller learning communities), Washington State educational reform pilots, and curriculum revisions.
Education - In addition to the social justice core proudly undertaken by every Antioch University Seattle student, I concentrated my studies on learning theory, educational systems and participatory design. My Masters in Educational Technology from Pepperdine University
was a hybrid online learning experience that further prepared me to design innovative learning environments and facilitate online learning communities.
Currently - and for the next year, I am developing my own ideas for educational innovation by extending my network in search of collaborators. I want to connect with adventuresome and reflective others interested in facilitating project-based learning in communities of any age, partially online, supported by web 2.0 tools and skills, hence this collection of web spaces. If you are interested in joining or hiring me to consult or conduct program research along these lines, please email me.
LearningHubs.net is the domain where I will facilitate some of our net-work toward this vision, making Learning Hubs the enterprise encompassing various projects I/we might undertake. (Still under construction)
Goals - I am also intentionally learning about Open Source community content management tools because we need places to meet, organize, document, and discuss online. I will be taking an action research approach to experimenting with Moodle, Joomla, Drupal, WordPress, Ning, phBB, wikis, and MySQL. I am interested in how specific design decisions affect the tool's service to communities learning together.
An important goal in publishing chronicles of this learning process and unfinished work is to foster and model a feedback loop, attracting people to think and play (Plink) with me about the stewardship of our potential technologies. I'm not sure all the places these reflected ideas will be published, but send me an email or comment in my blog Perspectance.
I truly hope that if you have read this far and you are even a little curious, or something is resonating with you, that you will find a spot to contribute whatever you are thinking.
